WINNERS OF £50,000 PRIZES IN TATTS
WELLINGTON, Nov. 7 The first prize of £50,000 iu Tattersall’s first consultation went to Mr W. R. Healy, of Taita, and Mrs M. Neave ,ol? Lower Hutt. Both work in a laundry at Felone and share the nome de plume ‘‘Lucky June,” chosen by Mr Heafy, who moved into a State house in Juno after 14 years’ wait. DUNEDIN, Nov. 7 Six- members of the maintenance staff of the Sawyers Bay Tanneries accepted, very calmly .news of their win of £50,000 in Tattersalls second Melbourne Cup consultation. Three members of the syndicate stopped work for about 20 minutes only to congratulate one another and then returned to work. Of the others, only one showed any excitement and he was soon calmed by the stoic manner of his companions. The fifth returned home to finish the weekend washing and was the only one to have a “quick one” in the local' hotel. The last person carried on with the presentation of trophies to competitors in the St John Ambulance competition. The prize-winners are Messrs H. G.'Wilson, J. FI. Woodward, D. I. Gray, T. A. Harkness, G. T. Abrahams and J. Bevlane- They all intend to continue in their present, jobs.
