RED TERROR IN ALBANIA IS WIDESPREAD
Yugoslav Account (Per Associated Press; (Rec 9.30) BELGRADE, Nov 5. “Widespread terrorism” in Albania was reported to-day by the Belgrade radio. Its broadcast is said to have been based on statements from the refugees who have fled to Yugoslavia to escape hardships and possible imprisonment. or death. The account came two days after the Yugoslav Government, in a Note, denounced Albania for failing to live up to the conditions of their mutual treaty of friendship with Yugoslavia. The Yugoslav radio said Albanian terrorism has increased steadily and particualrly among those suspected of sympathising with Marshal Tito s campaign for “equal rights” in the Communist circle. With the scant contacts between Albania and the West, there is little direct possibility of measuring the political sentiment in Albania. It is probable that there is growing resentiment against the Russian dominated regime there. According to the refugees, there is a curfew from G p.m. in the border areas. Hungary’s Regime Uses Provocation Against Yugoslavia (N.Z.P. A.—REUTER CABLE) (Rec. 9.30). BELGRADE, Nov. 6. Hungary has denounced her frontier treaty of August 3 with Yugoslavia. The Yugoslav Communist Party organ “Borba” reported this to-day. It added that the treaty, which provided for a joint commission to investigate frontier incidents, was “an obstacle to the Hungarian Government in realising its dark and non-petYbe-loving pians against Yugoslavia”. “Borba” said that Hungarian frontier guards are firing almost daily on Yugoslav border patrols, and are provoking incidents.
