BISHOP LYONS ON OFFICIAL VISIT TO WEST COAST

Most Rev. Dr. F. F. Lyons, Bishop of Christchurch, who is making a canonical visitation to certain West Coast parishes, has arrived in the district, accompanied by the Very Rev. Father T. Liddy, Administrator of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch. On Thursday evening he began his visitation in the Ahaura parish, where he will to-dav celebrate Mass in St. Mary’s Church. Yesterday he did so at St. Patrick’s Church, Nelson Creek, and will likewise officiate tomorrow in the Sacred Heart Church Ngahere, and St. Brendon’s Church Blackball, and on Monday in St. Munchin's Church. Totara Flat. Tomorrow evening sacrament of Confirmation will be administered by the Bishop at St. Patrick’s Church Grpymouth, to children of the parish, and next week the parish of Hoss will be visited. Bishop Lyons, on Wednesday next will, preside here at an assembly of the local sections of the Diocesan CathoFc Youth movement. blessing the official badges, at the first ceremony of the kind in Westland, and will preach in Jho evening l at the ceremony m St. Hr rick’s Church. Rev. Dr. C. Harrison is at presen. in Greymouth and is re’ieving the Rt. Rev. Monsignor J- Long AdminLtiator, who is absent at Christchurch on account of illness.
