DUNEDIN, October 13

Claiming that he had been enticed by a woman to leave his ship at Bluff and return with her to Dunedin, Edward McAllister, aged 33, a ship’s fireman, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to deserting from the Port Campbell and was sentenced to one month s impiison merit.

"Apparently, you are another of those ship deserters who threaten to become a perpetual nuisance, said Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., in sentencing Robert Fairley ,aged 30, a ship’s greaser, to an aggregate of a month’s hard labour, on two charges of assault.
