POLITICAL TRIALS IN HUNGARY

BUDAPEST, Oct. 12 Death sentences for all those charged in the recent Rajk trials were demanded by the prosecutor, Jangs Borbely, when their appeals were heard in a surprise session in Budapest to-day. The appeals were heard in the same court-room in which Cardinal Mindszenty’s trial was held. The defence lawyers pleaded for clemency for Laszlo Rajk, Dr Bitor and Andras Szalai. who were sentenced to death. They asked for reduced sentences in the cases 'of the other accused. The hearing was adjourned until Friday when verdicts will be pronounced.
