The Afrikaners will not be content under the British flag, according to the South African Minister of Lands, Mr J. G. Strydom. The Minister said in a Kruger Day celebration speech, that Paul Kruger’s ideals for an independent people and an ultimately independent republic, lived on. He added: ‘Vike Kruger, the Afrikaners to-day will not be content to di e under the British flag. If the Boer nation wishes to continue, it must be fre? of Britain”. HISTORY RECALLED (Rec. 10.5). LONDON, October 11. The United Press correspondent at Cape Town says: The South African Minister of Education, Hon. C. R. Swart, announced that the Union Government was financing the writing of “the proper story of South Africa, particularly of the period of the Boer War”. He added: “As a boy, it was in a British concentration camp, in the Boer War, that I saw waggon loads of dead children carried to a graveyard”.
