Dry Shareholders Of Dairy Coys. And Joint Guarantees

P.A. WELLINGTON, Sept 28. The House went into committee on the Co-operative Dairy Company’s Bill. The Minister in charge of the Bill, Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, said that when the Bill was last before the House, Mr G. K. Herron (Nat. Awarua) had raised a point concerning the position of dry shareholders in Co-operative Dairy Companies, who might have to surrender their shares and who had, previously, entered into a joint-and-several guarantee with a bank.

Mx’ Nordmeyer said that this matter had since been discussed with those responsible for the Bill, and, as a result, he would introduce an amendment. Mr Nordmeyer’ said that the effect of the amendment would be that ,if a dry shareholder was a signatory to such a guarantee he could not be compelled to relinquish his shares, but he might sell them voluntarily.
