Insurance “Industry" In Britain Against Nationalisation
LONDON, September 26. British insurance companies have combined to organise a national campaign to resist the nationalisation o their ‘"industry.” They have set up about 400 committees which will appoint agents to interview policy-holders and explain to them in detail what the companies consider to be the damaging effects upon their policies ol the acquisition, of industrial insuiance interests by the State. The committees comprise all grades of employees in the insurance, industry, from managers to canvassers. A central information office will be established in London, and panels of speakers are being prepared. A spokesman for the industry said most of the 60,000 insurance agents in Britain were opposed to nationalisation. The campaign was not a political move, but was designed to protect the best interests of the industry and its policy-holders.
