Gaston Eyskens (Social Christian) said that to combat the steadily growing unemployment, the Government proposed to launch a bold programme of public works and housing, social reforms would also be introduced, aimed at reorganising tlm social services, including sick benefits,, old-age pensions and unemployment benefits. Belgium’s foreign policy would be unchanged, he added. Its aims would still be “international peace, security and the prosperity of the country.” «
