LITIGATION IN AUSTRIAN EX-ROYAL FAMILY OVER PROPERTY SALES
(Rec. 9.30) NEW YORK, Aug. 16. The Archduke Franz Joseph, of Hapsburg has filed a suit for 950 thousand dollars damages against his brother and his sister-in-law in the U.S. Supreme Court today. He claimed that they had sold a family castle and other ancestral property in Austria without giving him a one-third share of the receipts. The defendants were the Archduke Anton and his wife. Princess Ileana of Rumania. They are reported to be living in Buenos Aires. . , Archduke Franz Joseph said that lie discovered that Archduke Anton and Princess Ileana sold the family castle in 1946 for about fifteen hundred thousand dollars. They had also sold furniture and antiques worth nearly half a million dollars. He had given. Antoh and Ileana a power of attorney. This had been violated, claimed Archduke Franz Joseph. The Court granted him a writ of attachment on one hundred thousand dollars, which Princess Ileana had on deposit in a New York bank.
