U.S. Strategist Sees Danger

(Rec 9.25) WASHINGTON, Aug 16. Lieutenant-General Albert Wedemeyer told the United States House of Representatives to-day that Russia had 175 Army divisions, and had between 12,000 and 15,000 military aircraft. Russia was building 2500 tanks every month. He said: “They do not need those forces for their internal security. They must 'have a projected use for those materials; and they are warlike in their intent.” General Wedemeyer said that the United States must maintain powerful armed forces, because of Russia’s military preparations. He disclosed that the United Statehad “a few” intelligence agents operating inside of Russia. But, he added, “we do not get good intelligence reports from Russia. Our sources are ver v limited but they are improving.” The Appropriations Committee has appproved of the expenditure of nearly 1.150 000 dollars for improved radio facilities to overcome' the Russian attempts to jam the Voice of America, broadcasts.
