Mrs D. Beale. Hilton, has entered the . Grey River Hospital for treatm<Mr and Mrs C. Williams, Harper Street, have been paying a visit to Christchurch. „ A ~ Mr and Mrs C. Hogg, of Ashourton, hav n '-•eon visiting their son aud dmiehter-in-law. Mr and Mrs W. Hogor Clifford Street. Mr W. Kirk, of Auckland, and formerly of Blackball, is paying his friends here a visit at present. Miss May Mountford, Main Road, was in Christchurch last week with the rep. basketball team. Mrs T. Smith and Miss Shirley Mountford were members of the hockey team which played at Westport last weekend. . ~ . Mr A. McDonald, proprietor of the Dominion Hotel, has gone to Christchurch for health reasons. Mr and Mrs M. Moon, Mam Road, left Blackball last week for Ngahere. where they have taken over the Ngahere Hotel. Their many friends here will wish them every success in their new venture. Mr and Mrs J. Griggs and family. o f London, are visiting Mr and Mrs Tavlor, Faversham. At the last monthly meeting of the Domain Board, it was decided to

remove the line of scraggy trees bordering the north end of the domain, and to pipe and fill in the open drain running parallel to them. This will allow the widening of the top area, so as to allow games to be played there and of spelling the main playing area. The Blackball Dramatic Society are putting in overtime on their rehearsals twice a week. Having had the pleasure of attending one of the rehearsals, one thoroughly enjoyed it. Mrs Taylor has resumed the leadership, and everything is going with a swing, she being in excellent voice, as are also the other vocalists. The dancing is of a high quality. The whole supporting cast ar e worthy of all praise, while the orchestra, with Mrs Ord presiding at the piano, gives the finishing touch that helps to set out the whole show. The company intend opening in their own township next month, and are sur ft to draw a big house. One may, with all confidence, recommend the show to everybody.
