MORE NATIONALISATION PLANNED IN BRITISH LABOUR ELECTION POLICY
(Reuter —N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 10.30) - LONDON, March 24. The Labour Party’s National Executive has approved a draft of the Party’s General Election programme, which includes more nationalisation, says Reuter's political correspondent. Labour, if returned to power, intends to take over the cement and sugar refining industries, water supply, wholesale meat purchasing, and refrigeration.
The party’s policy statement, which goes before the Labour National Conference in May, for final approval, also discusses the possibility of the nationalisation of shipbuilding, insurance and chemicals.
