SPECULATION OF NEXT MONTH’S LONDON MEETING OF LEADERS
(Rec. 10.0) LONDON, March 23. The future status of India is likely to bulk large in the deliberations of the Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ conference in London next month. The Times Colombo correspondent says that the Ceylon press generally links the meeting with India’s decision to become a republic, and expects that a search will be made for a formula that will allow India to retain a close association with the Commonwealth. This search, the Ceylon Daily News points out, has an interest for other Commonwealth members besides Ceylon.
Ceylon and India will be represented at the conjference by their Prime Ministers, and Dr Malan ('South Africa) is also expected to attend. The Pakistan Prime Minister, Ali Khan, has also been invited to the conference, but he was not yet said whether he has accepted. , ‘ /
