Finally Tonight “My Wild Irish Rose” Commencing To-morrow “Out of the Past” starring Robert Mitchum and Jan e Greer. Taut with suspense and presenting a highly dramatic case of a doublecrossing private detective wl;o undertakes to reform, but back-slides under the temptation of a beautiful adventuress, “Out of the Past” commencing at the Opera House tomorrow offers top flight histrionics by Robert Mitchum and Jane Greer. The story concerns a young gas station owner who, despite his interest in a lovely local girl, is reluctant to marry her because of his secret past. Years before the hero conducted a detective agency and was. employed by a gambler to trace his girl friend who had disappeared with 40,000 dollars. The hero caught up with her, but instead of bringing her back, became helplessly .enamoured. They returned to San Francisco where the hero’s former business partner found them and blackmailed them, only to die at the hands of the woman, who then deserted her companion and returned to the gambler. Hearing his story, his sweetheart urges him to make peace with the gambler. The latter greets him with a mask of cordiality and engages him to undertake a shady errand. As he reluctantly goes through with his instructions he discovers that the entire thing is a frame-up to get him captured as the apparent slayer of his ex-partner. To protect himself he tips off the police that, he and tlie gambler’s girl friend are fleeing. They are followed and in a thrilling fight the film comes to an unexpected climax.

Parks, fresh from his triumph, “The Jolson Story” easily fills the boots of a dashing young Scotsman whose sword flashes vengeance and whose arms hold fire! The object of his burning affection being Miss Drew, Parks daringly invades the stronghold of his family’s traditional enemy to woo the dazzling beauty.
