Mrs Walters, a former resident of Reefton, is visiting Mrs Williams, Station Road. The lire alarm was sounded at 10.45 a.m., yesterday, the outbreak being at Miss Shepherd’s premises on Buller Road. The Reei'ton Brigade was soon on the scene and had the fire under control before any serious damage was done. A meeting of the Reefton Rugoy League was held in the Oddfellow’s Hall' on Tuesday evening. Approximately 20 members and supoorters were present and two teams were picked for the week-end. The prospects for the code are bright. Extensive repairs are being carried out to the footpath in front of Mr F. Archer’s shop in Broadway- Employees of the County Council are engaged on the work. The first all day tourney of the Reefton Women’s Bowling Club drew entries from various West Coast clubs and one rink from Reefton. in all 64 players. Several visitors accompanied their clubs. A few light showers, early in the play, caused some delay, but soon passed, and the day turned out very hot. The Karoro rink skipped by Mrs Joyce won the competition, while Cobden, skipped by Mrs McLean was second. Morning tea, luncheon and afternoon tea were provided on the green, where the tables were set, under cover. A willing hand of helpers, made light oi the work entailed. At the annual meeting of the Ikamatua Sub-Branch of the R.S.A., the following officers were elected: — President, Mr W. V. Green; vicepresident, Mr J. O’Malley; honorary-secretary-treasurer, Mr R. A. Cox; honorary auditor, Mr B. Mirfin; committee: 'Messrs D. Mcßae, A. McVicar, R. Wai'd, J. Somerville, W. O’Malley, A. Mirfin, F. Mathieson and A. F. Bannan.
