YOUNG BOY HIDES IN CEILING
MELBOURNE, March 23. A boy aged 12X years who had been missing from his home in the suburb of Highett for six weeks, was found camped in the ceiling of a house only half a mile away. The boy, Alan Dee, left his grandmother’s home On February 8 and a subsequent search failed to find him. All the time Alan had been living in the ceiling of Mr H. Wright’s home in the suburb of Moorabbin. He was lying on a girl’s overcoat and scraps of food and fruit peel were nearby. Alan was discovered after Mr Wright’s daughter had heard noises in the roof and asked a neighbour to investigate. • The boy told the police that he used to go to the house after dark each night and' enter the ceiling through a manhole in the laundry. He stayed there until morning. Alan, who said he left home because his brother had punched him, was returned to his grandparents’ late last night.
