DUNOLLIE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

The Dunollie Women’s Institute held their first meeting of the year in St. John’s Hall recently, Mrs R. Barker presiding over a good attendance. All present read the aspirations and stood as an expression of sympathy to Mrs G. Foster Lynam. A number of apologies were received from members attending the bowling tournament at Westport. The monthly motto was: "Start the New Year Brightly.” A birthday spray was presented to Mrs Q. Patterson. Invitations were accepted from Dobson and Moana Institutes to attend their respective birthday parties. An invitation to hear Mrs Forde, J.P., speak, was received from the N.C.W. Remits to the annual Federation meeting were discussed. It was decided to hold the Institute picnic at Rapahoe on March 12, the bus to leave at 10 a.m. There was a roundtable discussion on the birthday entertainment. Competitions resulted: Hot water bottle cover, Mrs Watterson 1, Mrs Hambly 2, Mrs Nicholson 3; raspberry jam, Mrs Hambly 1, Mrs W. Watson 2, Mrs J. Smithson 3; bowl of sweet peas, Mrs Syme 1. After a dainty supper, served by Mesdames Blacklock, Leach, McKenzie and B. Barker, the meeting closed with the Institute Ode. .
