SOVIET REPORTS ITS FORCES LEAVE KOREA THIS YEAR
SEOUL, December 16. Russia and the United States would withdraw their liaison officers from the South and North Korean capitals on Christmas Day, said an American officer, Major-General J. B. Coulter. The withdrawal of the Americans on Christmas Day was announced after General Coulter had received a letter from the Soviet commander, stating that the Russians were leaying Seoul in conformity with their policy of withdrawing military forces from Korea by the end of the year. South Korea Expects to Regain the North SEOUL, December IS. The Foreign Minister, Chang Taik Sang, of the South Korean Government. has served notice to-day that the Government would use force, if necessary, to bring North Koiea under its control when the Soyie, troops are withdrawn. The United Press states.—The Foreign Minister said that the Republic had no desire to fight fellow Koreans, but it would not hesitate in taking action against traitors, to regain “lost territory.” There would be no negotiations with the so-called People’s Republic of the north. Killings in South by Guerrillas SEOUL, December 18. Twelve Koreans attached to th? partv of Governor Le Nam Kyu. of South Cholla province, were killed yesterday when 200 guerrillas attacked the party in an attempt to assassinate the Governor. The guerrillas fled after a fight with police guards.
