11,000 BOY SCOUTS GOING TO MELBOURNE FOR JAMBOREE
(Rec. 11.0). MELBOURNE, Dec. 17. More than eleven thousand scouts will converge on Melbourne from parts of the Pacific within the next twelve days for the Pan-Pacific Jamboree, from December 29 to Januarv 9- The United Kingdom representative will Chief Scout Lord Rowallan, who is flying to Australia. Other parties will come from forty countries, including Pakistan, Hongkong, Malaya, Philippines, Fiji, Nauru, South Africa, Canada, United States, and New Zealand. Some are coming from Tasmania in a tank-landing ship, lent by the Australian Navy. The camp is in the beautiful Wonga Park, near Melbourne. The camp-fires have been abandoned for braziers, owing t o the danger of bushfires. A special stamp has been issued and a special post office is being installed at the Jamboree.
