New Chairman for Grey Power Board
The annual meeting of the Grey Electric Power Board last night unanimously elected Mr John Ryan as chairman. Mr L. N. Downes was the retiring chairman. The chairman's honorarium was fixed at £l2O. The engineer (Mr Sinclair Trotter) in his report said:— Reticulation: Line construction to Garvey’s Creek State Colliery will be completed next week and supply made available to the mine. Maintenance of lines has been carried out at Camerons, Brunner, Runanga ami Blaketown. A short extension has been erected at Rutherglen. A pole type transformer has been erected at the junction of Burke’s Creek Road and the main highway for new consumers in that locality. One street lighting circuit in Reefton has been converted to the series system and the other circuit will ue changed over as soon as the balance of the lamp fittings arrive, bevei. new lamps have been erected fo± street lighting in other localities. Routine maintenance to consumeis’ services is being carried out and new consumers’ services erected where required. Consumers: Since the last meeting nine new application nave peen received and permits issued. Thirteen new consumers have been connected. Applications now total 6320 and consumers 6243. A total of 57 permits e seen issed for alterations to existing installations; 51 extensions have been completed; 15 ranges have been installed; six waterheaters have oeen installed. The load at last meeting was 10,616.920; and the load for the .lonth was 232.800 making a total of 40,849.800. General: Two sawmills are to be conected in the Ikamatua-Mawherau area as soon as the motors arrive, and " application has been receiveu ,iu ’* power supply for the Premier Gold Dredge, which is now being erectea near the Blackwater Road. The dredge will take supply from the existing Hukarere-Waiuta high tension feeder. The chairman, at an informal gathering, after the meeting, wished the staff and members seasonal greetings. He also congratulated Mi- Downes, retiring chairman, upon his able handling of the meetings and of the business of the board during the year.
