UNTIMELY FIGHTING IN WEST JAVA

(N.Z.P.A.—REUTER CABLE) (Rec. 11.40). BATAVIA, Nov. 8. Dutch Army headquarters here announced to-day that sixty members of a well-armed Republican gang were killed yesterday when they clashed with Dutch Army patrols near Tiikampek, in West Java, about fifty miles south-east of Batayia. Two Dutch soldiers were killed. •Observers in Batavia said that they expected that this battle would heighten tension between the Dutch and the Republicans as the last phase of vital “Peace Mission” talks began at Jogjakarta between the Republican Premier Dr Hatta, and the Dutch advisers of the Dutch Foreign Minister, Dr Stikker. ,
