Britain’s Contribution To European Recovery
LONDON, Oct. 31 Britain, by contributing to European recovery, was doing a great deal towards stabilising the oeace of the world, said the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Stafford Cripps, speaking at Bristol. Britain’s contribution to the European Recovery Plan in 1948 would be about £125,000,000, he said. He adhered to the statement he made in 1935, that it was essential to Socialism that the British Empire should be liquidated. “That is what we have done in the case of India, Pakistan, Burma, and Ceylon,” he declared.
