Cyprus Peasants Demand Union With Greece
NICOSIA, October 31. Peasants who walked nearly 100 miles across Cyprus bearing banners reading “We don’t want a British or American war base m Cyprus; attended a mass meeting called by a Leftist organisation in demand for “union with Greece, through self-government.” The meeting decided to cable to British Prime Minister, (Mr Attlee.', demanding free elections.
