OBITUARY
Mr. Robert A. Moore On Saturday the death occurred at Milford, Auckland, of Mr Thomas Aloysius Moore, a former well-known resident of the West Coast. For many years he resided at Runanga and at Barrytown, removing to Auckland over 30 years ago. He was a carpenter by trade, and had been seriously ill for a considerable time before his death.
The late Mr Moore married a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Flaherty, of Cobden, who survives him. He also leaves seven daughters and five sons, one of his daughters being Miss Cecilia Moore, of Brick Street, Greymouth. There are also three brothers, and two sisters, all residing in Auckland. One of the sisters is Sister Marcella, of Mt. Carmel, of the Convent, Waikowhai, Auckland.
Mr. Thomas Dumi
The death, at his residence, 45 Ramahana Road, Christchurch, yesterday, of Mr Thomas Dunn, removes an old and highly respected resident of the West Coast. Born in this district 63 years ago, the late Mr Dunn for many years followed the occupation of sawmiller in the Brunner district, later taking over the'license of the All Nations Hotel, at Barrytown. He conducted this well-known house for many years, but ill-health compelled his retirement two years ago. after which he and Mrs Dunn (who was a member of the McTaggart family) took up their residence in Christchurch. Besides his wife, the late Mr Dunn leaves one daughter, Mrs L. Mouat (Christchurch), and four'sons, James (Runanga), John (Blackball), Brendon (Rapahoe), and Lenin (Greymouth). There are also a number of grand children. The funeral takes place at Christchurch at 11 a.m. to-morrow (Wednesday).
Mr. D. E. McGrath
The death has occurred of Mr D. E. McGrath, of Lower Hutt. Born at Goldsberough, Westland, he went to Wellington with his family and started his business career with the firm of J. J. McGrath and Wills, solicitors During the first World War he was with Mr Malcolm Fraser, the Government Statistician, and for many years was on the staff of the Records Department, head oilice, Lands and Survey Department, Wellington. For' the past 30 years Mr McGrath was a keen supporter of the Labour Party. He was an old boy of St. Patrick’s College, Wellington, and the Requiem Mass at St. Peter and Paul’s, Lower Hutt, was offered by the Rev. Father J. Cullen, of St. Fat-‘ rick’s College, assisted by the Rev. Father F. Garty. Mr McGrath is survived by his wife, eldest son, Mr D. T. McGrath, and his daughter, Mrs R. Horton, of Lower Hutt. Private Edward John McGrath was killed in action iyi the Western Desert in ‘1941. His sisters are Mrs R. J. Guthrie, of Lower Hutt, and Mrs W. H. McMenamin, ofi Christchurch, and his brothers Mr T. McGrath and Mr Peter McGrath, of Wellington.
