ARRIVAL OF MIGRANTS FROM BRITAIN

WELLINGTON, Oct. 27 The largest immigrant English family since the end of the war, Mr and Mrs J. H. Chambers and their six children, whose ages range front two to 15, arrived at Wellington this morning on the Timaru Star. The family has come from Burghheath, near the famous Derby racecourse, Epsom, and is anxious for a new life—right away from the troubles of Europe, as Mr Chambers put it. Mr Chambers hopes to enter business as an electro-plating engineer in Timaru. Carrying 438 passengers and 11,168 tons of general cargo the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Rangitiki, commanded by Commander E, Holland, arrived in Wellington this morning from London on her _ first trio after refitting for peace-time service. The passengers included 102 Gov-ernment-assisted settlers.
