Theft Charges Against Seller of Used Cars

WELLINGTON, Oct. 18. The trial of Freeman Ronald Raine, aged 31, a salesman, on in counts of theft relating to transactions in used cars was continued before Mr Justice Cornish in the supreme Court to-day. The given up to the luncheon ment to-day related to four 01 cars and a van, in the sale of wnicti the accused was allegedly concerned. James Peter Skou, a farmer, oi Trentham, said in evidence that he had given Raine his authority to dispose of his car for £625 m October, 1947. He gave the accused a registration paper, but at no time had he signed a transfer form. Raine eventually gave witness £5O. David Cunningham, a garage proprietor, of Frankton, said he had given Raine a cheque for £475 for the car.
