N.Z. Can Supply All Salt Required in Marlborough

BLENHEIM.. Oct 19.. It was unofficially indicated in Blenheim to-day that the Government policy in connection with • the Lake Grassmere salt project, may shortly be announced. The likelihood is, it is stated, that the time is not far off when New Zealand's salt requirements will be produced within the Dominion. In November of last year a comprehensive survey of the Grassmere undertaking was made by an American expert, Professor Eager, who also, al the invitation of the Government, inspected several localities in New Zealand with a vtey. to establishing a salt industry. It is understood that his report, which may soon be presented to Parliament is extremely favourable to the Grassmere project. Meanwhile, work at Grassmere is being pushed ahead.
