WELLINGTON, October 14
Described in a foreword by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, as "specially valuable to workers employed or living in areas where approaches to official advice is not always possible”, a union handbook issued to all members of the Wellington Labourers’ Union contains mucn useful information relating to industrial legislation and union matters generally. The handbook includes sections explaining workers’ compensation., the provisions of the Social Security Act and the Holidays Act and gives advice on matters pertaining to' wages and the observance of award conditions. With tables for calculating wages at ordinary and overtime rates appended, the handbook, produced in a neat vest-pocket form, should be of considerable benefit to union members.
