The death has' occurred at Coburg, Germany, where he had lived since his abdication in 1918 of the 87-year-qld Ferdinand I, former Czar of Bulgaria. Mr Will Lawther, president of the British National Union of Mineworkers, has been elected chairman of the Trade Union Congress.
Mr J. H. Williams will arrive in Greymouth from Auckland to-day as first assistant traffic manager for the district. He does not begin his duties until September 20.
Mr S. D. Dallard, stationmaster at Greymouth, has been promoted to a similar position at Timaru. It is not yet known when Mr Dallard leaves Greymouth, or who will be his successor.
