Labour Ministers Leave Banned Russian Society

SYDNEY, September 10. The Federal Minister of Transport, Mi- E. J. Ward, and the State Minister of Housing, Mr. Clive Evatt, have informed the State Executive of the Australian Labour Party that, they have resigned from the Australian Russian Society. The party had previously refused to consider reports that Mr. Evatt had been relieved of the chairmanship of the society and insisted that he write to the executive personally. Mr Evatt was president qf the Australian Russian Society, which the State Labour Party executive 'declared a fortnight ago to be a banned organisation "within the meaning of the party’s June conference resolutions.” The party executive ordered all members to dissociate themselves immediately from the society.
