At Patterson’s Park on Sunday morning a fair crowd ot sportsmen watched local horses in training. The first of the gallopers to work was Early Night (R. Powley), who went a couple of rounds at a strong pace. Chatmoney (K. Powell), Chianti (E. Walsh) and Glen Very (A. rtae) sprinted together over a half-mile in 33sec. Chianti led all the way and Gien Very did not gallop as well as he did last Sunday; Transiusionist (R. Frame) worked once round and sprinted home the last half-mile. Gallent Bess (E. Walsh) was restricted to slow work on the inside track. Cricket Field (R. Frame) was very eager to gallop when he worked at a strong pace once round. This horse and Transfusionist are recent additions to T. Smith’s team. Velvet Slipper (R. Frame) worked well while doing strong pace work. The first of tne pacers to work was Stamina (K. Powell), who worked around to the 11 mile post and then vame nome at a fast pace. The trotter Pangitea (T. Rodgers) did strong work on the inside track. The Jack Potts-Warship filly (H. Roberts) paced nicely and freely over a couple of rounds on the inside track. Molly Grattan (K. Powell) did slow pace work. Sea Pirate (C. Walsh). Laurine Grattan (Mason), Scotch Drift (Pas-' coe), Wynleaf (K. Powell), Red G»ueen (J. Higgins) Scotty (J. Roche) and Loyal v 010. set out for a trial over 11 nines. Scotch Drift was the first to find his feet and led past the stand the first time, with Wynleaf and Red Queen together and Laurine Grattan, Sea Pirate, with Loyal Volo and Scotty tailed off. Along the back and into tne straight with the pace on, it was still Scotch Drift, with Sea Pirate finishing on, and Laurine Grattan. Red Queen, Wynleaf showing up. As they passed the post Scotch Drift led Sea Pirate, with Red Queen and Laurine Grattan together in third place, and Wynleaf a half a length away. Scotch Driit’s time for the 11 mile was 3.3 3-ssec. Sea Pirate was giving the winner about five lengths start into the straight and finished a neck away. Dale Lass (P. Walsh) Adelma (Hollis) Jack’s Pride (White) and Congressional in saddle (Johnson) went away from the 11 mile peg. Dale Lass was the first to begin. Jack’s Pride broke up and after three furlongs were covered he was giving the leader about 12 lengths start, but he settled down and went through to take the lead. He carried on to finish two lengths in firont of Adelma, with Dale Lass following on and Congressional pulled up. They travelled the journey in 3.l9sec. Deila Grattan (K. Powell) and Sowden Beck (L. Walsh) paced well together over two rounds. Sarsfield (C. Walsh) unhoppled, paced evenly once round and came home fast over the last half-mile. Royal Bar (J. Roche), Logan Fraser gelding (Penno) and the Gold BarAlpine Medley colt (J. Durnin) all did useful work. Courageous (Pascoe) paced along freely by himself and finished fast over the last half.
