AUSTRALIAN FOOD FOR PALESTINE
(Rec. 11.45). CANBERRA, Aug. 23. Australia had agreed to supply a quantity of wheat, cheese, and butter for the relief of Palestine, the Prime Minister, Mr Chifley, announced tonight. He added that Count. Bernadotte had asked the Australian Government to send food aid for 337.000 Arab and Jewish refugees ] n Palpu tine, many of whom are on the point of starvation. Thirty per cent, of the refugees were children, under fiv ■ years of age.
