WAR ON DISEASE BY BOMBING

(Rec. 9.50) LONDON, August 13 The Colonial Research Report announces the Helicopter bombing of the Tsetse Fly and progress in evolving a blood plasma substitute, fronr sugar, in the war on disease in the colonies. The Colonial Insectcides Committee plans a bomb which will penetrate the bush canopy, generating insecticidal smoke at ground level, which would make the foliage untenable for the Tsetse Fly. The report hails the discovery of large deposits of phosphate rock m Uganda, which, it is hoped, will oe a source for agricultural fertiliser.
