U.N.O. Support For Peacetime Censorship Of Newspapers

(Received August 13, 11.10 p.m.) GENEVA, August 13. The United Nations Economic, and Social Council agreed, in spite of Eastern Bloc opposition, to write specific limits on peace-time censorship into the nroposed international convention on press freedom. Britain, France and the Um/ed States opposed a Colombian proposal, which the Council accepted, that peace-time censorship might be justified by any threat to national security and not merely a military threat.
