Following is the first Grey County Council list of donations for the United Nations appeal for children: — Women's Committee, Blackball (per Mrs. R. H. Dumpleton) £5O; Misses M. J. and B. Craig, Matai, £10; Mrs. D. Craig £6; West Coast Rugby League (Inc.) £5; Mrs. H. A. Whitmore, Moana, £2; Mr. Miles Rea, North Beach, £1 10s; M. and J. Kennedy, Ruru, £1; Mrs. H. McDonald, Coal Creek, £1; Mr. Colin G. McDonald, Coal Creek, £1; Mr. Colifi J. McDonald, Coal Creek, £1; Collection, West Coast v. Canterbury League Match, £5 6s 6d; St. Patrick’s Convent School, £3 6s 6d. Total £B7 3s. NEW PLYMOUTH OBJECTIONS Mr R. Malcolm, Dominion organiser for the U.N.O. appeal for children referred to the fact that a New Plymouth public meeting had declined to launch the United Nations Appeal for Children, until given information where the food is to come from. Mr Malcolm said he had had a telephone conversation with the Mayor of New Plymouth, when, he had been assured that the appeal was going ahead. Mr Waters, a retired postal official, had undertaken, to organise the appeal and to act. as secretary. There were manv questions which required answers, however, and he had Mrs C. H. Wes-i ton were going to New Plymouth to address a meeting on May 18.
