GOLF £2,000 Tournament

LONDON, May 7. Professional golfers had to contend with a bitterly cold southerly gale when they played the first round of The Dunlop-Southport £2.000 tournament at the Ainsdale course, and the scoring was high. Thirty-five players wAn scores of 155 or better qualified lor the final two rounds. At the end of the second round four players with 147 lead the field. TT T ., The Australian, Von Nida, in returning 83, his highest score for any round in a British tournament, had temperamental outbursts jn which he several -times threw his clubs away. He once flung his putter into an adjoining field and used an iron to hole. He astonished the gallery by keeping his raincoat on to play some shots. Dai Reese, T. Haliburton, F. Daly, and J. Fallon shared the lead wrth 74 after the first round. They were followed, by J. Burton and Faulkner with 76, Wi. Shankland with 77, and Von Donck, A. Harrison and E. Whitcombe with 78.
