Technical Schools’ Varied Programme To Help U.N.O. Appeal
The Greymouth Technical High School in an endeavour to contribute towards the United Nations appeal for children has requested the Borough Council t/iat permission be given on May 28 for a march through the main streets of the town bv the pupils in tribes, soliciting by voice, slogan and banner the support of citizens, old pupils, and business people for their effort. The Principal, Mr W. M. Stewart stated yesterday that the school was entering upon the appeal with enthusiasm. The Principal is reported tj have said that' because of the time already lost this year, the present campaign will be conducted within the range of the school time-table, which jt is felt will be no less successful. The present programme which was decided upon after discussion with the school staff and school leaders, embraced the following scheme, a copper trail.* a mile in length that will be divided into four quarters one quarter being assigned to each of the foui' school tribes.. Sources of income would be derived from donations, domestic, school concerts and recitals, football, bastketball and other matches.
