M's.Ps.’ INFORMAL VOTES: Fifty per cent, of the members of Parliament from the Auckland province who exercised the right to vote in the election to fill two vacancies on the Auckland Grammar School Board cast informal votes. Although they had been notified that the postal votes had to be signed by a voter and witnessed by a justice of the peace, 14 of the 28 who voted did' not sign the ballot papers. Thirty-eight members of the Legislative Council and House of Representatives were entitled ,to vote. —Auckland, April 21.

Car Radio Communication: The installation of radio equipment at Auckland and Wellington for Post Office radio communication systems between central offices and motor vehicles is progressing to schedule. Announcing this, the Postmaster-Gen-eral (the Hon. F. Hackett) said he expected that Post Office engineers would be carrying out working tests from mobile units in Auckland and Wellington towards the end of this month.' The Minister said the rental charges would be £25 yearly for a central office station and £lO yearly for each radio-equipped mobile unit. —Wellington, April 21. Teachers’ Hostel: Th? Minister of Education, the Hon. T. H. McCombs, is not prepared to' recommend the erection of a hostel in new materials for the accommodation of students at the Teachers’ Training College. Wellington. The Minister suggested that the board should continue to- watch for some suitable building with vacant possession.
