Butter Ration to be Reviewed

INVERCARGILL, April 19. “I am having the whole subject of the amount of the butter ration reexamined in the light of our own needs and the requirements of the British people. If it is possible for any relief to be given in our own ration scale this will be done at the earliest ooportunitv”, stated a letter from the Minister of Supply, Mr Nordmeyer, received at a meeting of the Southland Trades Council last night. The letter added that the difficulty being experienced in securing the full requirements of raw sugar and in having it distributed throughout the country made it impossible for sugar rationing to be lifted at present, but this would be done as soon as practicable.
