MILLERTON NOTES

Mr S Plummer, of Christchurch, is spending a holiday at Millerton. Messrs T. McGee and J. Johnstone, of - Ngakawau, chairman and representative respectively' of the Country Community Centre visited Millerton during the week and made an inspection of the Community Hall.
Mr and Mrs J. Orman ale spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs D. McEwan have left Millerton to spend a holiday at Reeftom
. Mrs G. Jones, of Millerton, is visiting Christchurch. Mr J. Stuart, of Millerton, was admitted to the Westport Hospital with a leg injury. Members of the Millerton Women’s Institute travelled to Karamea during the week-end to attend the half-yearly meeting of the district Institutes.
A large number of members and friends of the Millerton Women’s Institute travelled to Hector during the week to attend the birthday function of the Hector branch.
The Ngakawau Rugby juniors visited Millerton on Saturday last to play Ranger juniors in a return friendly match. The game ended in a draw with no score. Mr J. Anderson was referee.
The Denniston soccer team visited Millerton on Sunday to play, a friendly match with the local side. The final whistle went with the Scores: Denniston 4 Millerton 3. Mr J. Riddell was referee. Millerton has formed two hockey teams, one ladies and one men’s. They are taking advantage of the fine weather by having practice games each evening.
