BRITISH WARSHIPS IN FALKLANDS STORM

(Rec. 9.50). LONDON, February 29. Storms have damaged the British ■ cruiser Nigeria and the sloop Snipe in the Falklands, according to Admiralty reports. The Nigeria reached Port Stanley after weathering a sixty-knot. gale. Heavy seas smashed one boat, which was carried twene/ feet above the waterline, and caused minor upper deck damage. The Snipe had to slip her anchor while visiting an out-station. She put to sea with a number of local residents, and had to ride out a storm which reached one hundred knots near the ship. The storm smashed the Snipe’s motor-boat.
