Friendly Society Notes

After the holiday recess, the first fortnightly meeting of Brighter Greymouth Lodge, 1.0.0.F.N.Z., was held in Perotti Hall on Monday evening. Bro. G. Fiveash, P.N.G., presided in the absence of Bro. L. Boot. N.G. Inward correspondence included a quote from an Auckland firm for a set of indoor bowls. Owing to the greatly increased price quoted it was decided to hold over the decision to purchase a set until the Noble Grand was present. A hearty welcome was extended to- Bro. -C7 Rowlands, P.G., of Washington Lodge, Christchurch, who stated he conveyed fraternal greetings from his own lodge, also from the Grand Master, Bro. .Greent slade, Star of St. Albans Lodge, north Canterbury district and DegreeLodge and D.D.G.M. Bro. Tullett. Bro. Rowlands said that as he had assisted in the institution of Brighter Greymouth Lodge in 1926 he had always' followed with interest its progress. He was pleased that ' Greymouth, in common with other parts of New Zealand, was making new members. Bro. A. E. Weaver gave an interesting talk on a- 400-mile cycle tour he and his son had taken during the holidays. Bro. C. Robertson also gave some amusing experiences during . his 1000-mile motor trip to Central Otago. The social commitee entertained the visitors with cards table tennis and light refreshments.
