RAILWAY STOPPAGE IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA
ADELAIDE, Jan. 18
AU metropolitan and country train traffic ceased in South Australia at midnight last night for an indefinite period. The Adelaide authorities have made temporary arrangements to carry on business and- industry’- today ,and, if the stoppage is confined to one day, there will be little dislocation.
The railway unions are holding stop-work meetings to-day, during which thev will decide whether the strike shall be of 24 hours’ duration or shall continue. They will also seek the opinion of members on the working of the 40-hour week rosters and on wages and amenities.
