TOUGHER DRIVING TESTS

ALBANY, Jan. 11. Applicants for drivers’ licences in New York must pass a true-and-false ‘typewritten examination on motor vehicle and traffic regulations. Clifford J. Fletcher, State Motor Vehicles Commissioner, says the test replaces a similar ■ oral examination “to insure uniform application of the test throughout the State.” 1 An actual driving test, a vis’on test and an English test complete the full examination fo a licence. The written test consists of ten statements selected from a list of thirty by the examiner. Seven must be answered correctly. Mr Fletcher said tabulation would enable the bureau to determine which regulations were misunderstood most generally.
