Ex-King’s Departure for Switzerland
(Rec. 5.30). LONDON, Dec. 31. The British United Press correspondent at Bucharest states: It is officially announced that ex-lvmg Michael is leaving Rumania to-day (Wednesday) with his mother and sixty courtiers. Michael is in a royal castle at Sinai. He will leave by plane, if the weather permits. Otherwise he will go by a special train to Switzerland. LATER.
The Bucharest correspondent of the Associated Press says: Ex-King Michael and Queen Mother Helen spent New Year’s Eve quietly 7 at the Royal country palace of Sinaia. They are not likely to leave for Switzerland until Saturday. Reuter’s correspondent says: ExKing Michael took the last salute of his guards at Sinaia . Michael’s departure from Bucharest has been delayed through the discussion of his personal and financial matter with the Government. The Premier, Dr Groza, told the press the King would receive a certain allowance derived from the Crown lands, row reverting to the State An’ Associated Press correspondent says- It is understood that the initial sum of about £750,000 is being paid immediately.
