Springbok Team for To-morrow’s Test
CHRISTCHURCH, June 26. As a result of brilliant play against Wellington yesterday, two members of the Springbok soccer side will get their caps as Sonth African representatives by being included in a team to play in the first test against New Zealand at Lancaster Park on Saturday. These are J. Preforms right half, and S. Olinn, outside left. The standard of soccer in New Zealand as revealed in the two games that the team had played' here, was much higher than that in Australia, said the Manager, of the Springboks Mr Barbour.
The Auckland and Wellington teams had played clean, scientific football. In Auckland the South Africans had found it difficult for a while to pick up the knack of keeping their footing on a sodden ground but they got on to the idea quicker
than had been hoped. South African soccer team to play the first tes't against New Zealand at Lancaster Park on Saturday is as follows:— J. Pickerill, H. D. McCreadie, E. Dowell, J. Pretorius, H. Naish, D. Forbes, D. Wilson, G. Falconer, B. Clark, E. 11. Smethurst’(captain) S Olinn.
