P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, June 26. A statement has been made by the assistant manager of the Springbox soccer team, Malcolm Taylor, and the captain, Mr E. H. Smedhurst, and the vice-captain, Mr C. Kurland. This reads: “We, the assistant manager, captain, and vice-captain, and 16 players of the Springbox soccer team, touring Australia and New Zealand, publicly dissociate ourselves from the statement of the manager (Air J. Barbour), published in Christchurch, on June 26.

“All of us have formed friendships with many Australian people during our tour of the Commonwealth, and it is our desire that these friendships should not be damaged in any way. by any statement made by any member of the party. The question of policy is a matter between the Australian and South African Football Associations”.
