INDIAN JUTE FOR NEW ZEALAND
NEW DELHI, June 16.
The Indian Government denied a report attributed to New Zealand alleging that India was allocating jute only to countries sending food to India and that she was asking the United Kingdom to release New Zealand from certain food- commitments so that she could get Indian jute.
An Indian Government official said that New Zealand, in common with other countries, received its jute quotas based on pre-war imports. Argentina was the only country on a grain-for-jute basis, because Argentina had large quantities of grain for export.
