RUGBY LEAGUE AND J. FORCE
When discussing the application for reinstatement to Rugby Union by G. D. Innes*, former All Black and Rugby League representative, the management committe of the New Zealand Rugby Union had to check back on the decision enabling ex-servicemen to gain reinstatement to Rugby Union football provided that they had not played Rugby League after leaving the services. > The motion making this possible did not stipulate any expiry date and it was agreed to reinstate Innes, who wore the All Black jersey in 1932. Mention was made that members of J. Force were playing Rugby League. This statement caused a minor commotion. What would be the position of Rugby Union players taking part in Rugby League matches in the J Force? Would they be granted reinstatement in the same manner as Rugby League players taking part in the Rugby Union matches in the J Force? That question may have to be answered when the members of J Force now in Japan, return.
HUNTING KIWI HONOURS
C. A. Hurndell, last year rated as outstanding forward in the Waira-rapa-Bush v. Kiwi Rugby Match, has transferred to Rugby League and will play for Richmond Club, Auckland. Hurndell was chosen for the Rugby trials at Palmerston North but an injury prevented him from accepting the chance. Weighing 14.7, standing 6ft and only 20 years old, Hurndell seems assured of a trip to England with the New Zealand Rugby League team, says a Wellington exchange.
